Sunshine Coast Parks and Places

The Sunshine Coast trail leads through old growth forests, a marsh wetland and leads to the headwaters of Davis Creek. The Hidden Grove Trail section is just a small part of the bigger picture. The region is actually divided into four park sections.

The park is a wilderness activity destination with a varied network of trails for hiking, backpacking and mountain biking.

The summit of the Pender Hill shows off views of the Sechelt Peninsula and Pender Harbour. The views come with entertainment too as sailboats, fishing boats, yachts and motor boats travel back and forth out of Pender Harbour.

Chapman Creek is a hiking and biking trail located south of Sechelt, BC in the area of Davis Bay on the lower section of the Sunshine Coast.

People come to the Francis Point Provincial Marine Park to explore by hiking, kayaking, swimming or scuba diving.The large park protects the waterfront of the Francis Peninsula closest to Madeira Park.

The area is a popular destination for swimming fishing and for beach activities. There are picnic tables onsite and a leisure easy grade trail exploring around the perimeter of Ruby Lake. The loop hiking trail is approximately 0.8 km long.

Highway 101

Egmont

The park is on the Malaspina Peninsula covering over 4 hectares with no real trial system to explore but does have beach access and camping. It is also a launch point for kayaking and scuba diving.

The mountain biking route includes highway riding and logging roads. The climbs, although tough, do reward the biker with great views of Jervis Inlet and some speed descents.

The small Sunshine Coast park attracts families and friends who look forward to enjoying a day lounging by the Salmon Pond near the big grassy area having a picnic and, hopefully.. going for a short comfortable walk.

The Marshall School Historic Site is marked by a ceremonial cairn and dedication plaque. The monument marks the spot where a 1912 school house once stood.

The identifying feature of Davis Bay is the long pebbled beach coastline with a well developed paved walking path lined with viewing benches while highlighted with a long wooden fishing pier jutting out from the shoreline.

Highway 101

Sechelt

The Homesite Creek Trail cuts through forests for 2 km ( 1.2 mi.) and leads to the Homesite Waterfall, some sinkholes and a group of limestone caves. The caves are self exploratory, so beware, as the floor of the caves can be slippery.

Simson Provincial Park is 461 hectare marine park in the Thormanby Islands. Accessed by water only, the preferred mode of transportation to the islands is a small boat, kayak or dingy

Shelter Bay Regional Park is located on Texada Island, BC. Hikers, mountain bikers, campers, bird watchers, kayakers and photographers should make an effort to explore this beautiful park.

Smugglers Cove Marine Park is accessed by both water and land. This Sunshine Coast park draws many boaters and sightseers every year to the protected cove. This park is ideal for hiking, swimming, kayaking and picnicking.
