Mostly specializing in wood-fibre pulp.The mill is British Columbia's oldest forestry operation and also produced the first sheet of paper printed using wood fibre from BC trees. With much effort, the first piece of paper rolled off the No. 1 pulp machine on October 14, 1909 at 2:30 pm.

The Port Mellon, BC area is close to some excellent day hikes and mountain bike routes on the lower Sunshine Coast. The Tetrahedron Provincial Park is part of the Lower Mainland Nature Legacy and has some fantastic viewpoints for hiking , biking enthusiasts and so does Mount Elphinstone .
