Lyon Lake Mountain Biking Loop Trail is located north of Sechelt, BC on the Sechelt Peninsula on the Sunshine Coast nearest the community of Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia, Canada. The biking trail rewards bikers with spanning views of Georgia Straight, Vancouver Island, Texada Island, Sakinaw Lake, Pender Harbour, Jervis Inlet, and Sechelt Inlets and the Coast Mountains.

The 17 km ( 10.5 mi.) Lyon Lake Loop Trail is considered a difficult route which explores through forests with some elevation views. The route should take no longer than 2-3 hours to complete for the experienced biker. Most of the loop route is identified by white mountain biking signs and double band markers in yellow paint.

The Lyon Lake Loop Trail starts by staying left following the markers on the Forest Service Rd for approximately 5.1 km ( 3.2 mi.). Along this section of the trail there are views opening up to Pender Harbourand Sakinaw Lake. The Sunshine Coasr trail, especially this section, involves some climbing on loose dirt. Continue biking, staying right, for 1.5 km ( 0.9 mi.) following the Caren Main Road for another 1.5 km ( 0.9 mi.) and steer right again.

There are off-shoot trails, so take precautions on routes taken as markers are not clear. Follow the skid road for 200 m (656 ft.) and stay left and continue down the steep trail for approximately another 500 m. (1640 ft.) to the washed out logging road. Take a right onto the logging road navigating the hills for 6 km (3.7 mi.) section and hook up with main road to the parking lot.

How To Get ToLyon Lake Mountain Biking Loop Trail

:
Follow Highway 101 13 km ( 8.0 mi.) north of Secheltand turn right on to Trout Lake Road. Trout Lake Road turns into Halfmoon Bay Forest Service Rd. Continue on this road for 16 km. (9.9 mi.). Steer left at the junction past the power lines and proceed to the next junction where the loop trail begins. This Sunshine Coast route is accessed only by 4X4 vehicle.
