Mountain bike culture is alive and well in Golden British Columbia Canada. And, why wouldn't it be? With over 185km of trails, four trail networks, and the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and Bike Park. Golden was home to psychosis, the world's longest, steepest and fastest downhill race. These trails are still open on Mount 7. Being my second day of mountain biking this season, I thought it might be nice to pick a cross-country trail that was a little less technical and to end with me in a hospital. Having always been interested in exploring the Moonraker Trail system we chose a loop made up of the Cedar Camp, NorthStar and Arrowhead trails. These trails promised to be fast and flowy and to not have too many roots. They also wind past to wilderness lakes and have the occasional view of the Purcell and Rocky Mountains. Perfect.

Having fun mountain biking on the Moonraker Trail in Golden BC. There plenty of trails suitable for all levels. I like the smooth and flowy nature of the mountain bike trails here.

Most trails a smooth and flowy. Some have more technical features and roots. After the Cedar Camp Trail, we connected with NorthStar. This is trail has a number of short punchy climbs that are followed by fun descents and railing corners.

The final leg of our ride was on the Arrowhead trail. We picked this trail because it was another smooth singletrack with short descents and climbs. We picked it for the occasional view of the Purcellโ€™s to the west and the Rockies to the east. This is another blue cross-country trail. I quite enjoyed this trail even though I wasn't in the best of shape.

The Arrowhead Mountain Bike Trail in the Moonraker Recreation Area is primarily forested however it does have a few viewpoints along way. This one looks out on the Purcell Mountain Range to the West and the Canadian Rocky Mountains to the East.

I am more of a road bike and cyclocross fan, so we had to stop for a selfie to prove to our bike friends that I want mountain biking and had fun. Really, with the number of trails in Golden British Columbia, there is actually a trail for everyone. In fact, Golden's first adaptive-inclusive opened in 2020 as part of the CBT trail network.

More evidence of my mountain biking adventure. This is the route we took on Cedar Camp to NorthStar to Arrowhead in the Moonraker Recreation Area. Altogether we did a 7km loop, which since I wasn't in very good shape for mountain biking was plenty. I had fun and was tired by the end but looking forward to getting back to the trails soon.
