    For the British Columbia February 20th Family Day statutory holiday, the Royal British Columbia Museum, located in Victoria, BC, is offering FREE admission to its exhibits for kids, youth, seniors and students! Adult admission for the day is $18.

    Come and see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and join for a day of digital programs which will explore behind the scenes of the Orcas tour, creating an animal portrait, learning about why we love food and a nature tour. You will have the option to be able to join on Zoom or Facebook Live and select the activities you wish to take part in. At the end of the day there will even be an IMAX screening in your own home!

Although right now there is controversy over the closing of the third floor and the cost of the Royal BC Museum's proposed redevelopment, that could stretch from 2023 until 2029 with a capital cost between $500 million and $1 billion. Probably, more like $1 billion by the time it is finished as that is the way of any reno in my experience. The changes to be made are for seismic risks, asbestos removal, the need for better accessibility and to update the exhibits for modernization. All good things, it's just too bad it is going to take 5 years (and most likely then some) to complete.   More ...
