Located in what seems like the middle of no where, is this neat day use park, called Red Rock Coulee Natural Area. It's located near Orion Alberta which is closest to Medicine Hat in the southeast pocket of the province. These super rare geological formations are known to quite possibly be the largest spherical shaped rocks found anywhere in the world. Their bright orange/red colours make them extra unique.
Take a wander around the area, exploring a very different landscape than the rest of the province. But watch out for rattlesnakes and scorpions! They do live in Canada, right here in southern Alberta!
Heads up, it is super windy in this area. My videos sound like I am standing beside a jet engine.
Out of the 1000 photos I took while here, I drastically dropped the number to share. Hopefully you enjoy geology as much as I do! Otherwise this may be a boring album for you haha
What was once known as the Western Interior Seaway, many many years ago. Approximately 80 million years ago, there was a north south ocean that divided western Canada from Central Canada and you're looking at that area now.
Imagining an ocean here is wild. Southern Alberta has battled water issues for so long, hence the huge irrigation districts around here, that it's almost impossible to picture that much water around here.
Surprisingly plenty to do in those seemingly empty places More ...
