This holiday season we had the pleasure of experiencing one of Southwestern Ontario’s most beloved holiday traditions – the Lighting of the Lights at Victoria Park in downtown London, Ontario. This annual event, which marks the unofficial start of the holiday season, brought together thousands of locals and visitors to witness the park’s transformation into a breathtaking winter wonderland. With over 100,000 twinkling lights and vibrant displays, the event was an enchanting celebration of community, warmth, and holiday spirit.
The festivities began shortly after dark, with live music, food trucks, and a variety of family-friendly activities. We were treated to lively performances by The Rockin' Reindeer, led by local talent John Fellner, while families took fun photos in the 360° photo booth and mailed letters to Santa at the park’s North Pole mailbox. Warm cider from Farm Boy helped chase away the chill, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation as the crowd gathered for the big moment.
Just before 7:00 PM the excitement reached its peak as Mayor Josh Morgan and John Davidson, founder of Jesse’s Journey, took the stage for the ceremonial countdown. When they flipped the switch, the park instantly came to life. Trees sparkled with cascading lights, sculptures gleamed in vibrant hues, and the crowd cheered with delight. For a few moments, it truly felt like stepping into a glowing holiday snow globe.
The spectacular display remains a free, nightly attraction until January 16, 2026. Visitors can continue to enjoy the more than 100,000 lights, strolling along the park’s illuminated paths and discovering enchanting scenes like a snow family, a glowing Christmas train, and Santa with his reindeer. It’s a magical experience that will make lasting holiday memories for anyone who visits!
