    AHOY ALL BUCCANEERS!

Esquimalt Buccaneer Days will be held at Esquimalt BC's Archie Browning Sport Centre, Curling Club and Bullen Park from May 12, 2023, to May 14, 2023, 3 PM to 9 PM each day.

This is a fun community and family event with something for all ages. Over 20 community organizations take part:

Come and enjoy the Midway, Pancake Breakfast,
Market Place, Buccaneer Dance, Community Booths & Displays, the Children's Pirate Den, Food Vendors and don't forget the Parade on Saturday Morning. The parade starts at 10 AM and travels along Esquimalt Road from Dominion at Admirals.

    Tickets
Buccaneer Days is free to attend, however for the Midway Carnival rides and games the price is $35 for the day for unlimited amusement park rides and fun.

Stepping back in time to Buccaneer Days earliest beginnings:
In 1939, Esquimalt began holding a May Queen celebration. this evolved into Esquimalt Days and eventually, in 1966, became Buccaneer Days. The town turned out in naval and pirate attire, vying for prizes for the best costume. The citizens of Esquimalt were also awakened at a very early hour by a loudspeaker mounted atop a van calling "Wakey, Wakey!".

While the van loudspeaker is no more, this event has no problem in attracting the crowds!

On the weekend there will be live performances on two stages, a curated marketplace, a family zone, a photo booth, food trucks, a beer tent, and more! In fact, there will be more than 60 performances and events held during the festival with 70 per cent of these events being FREE.

Although right now there is controversy over the closing of the third floor and the cost of the Royal BC Museum's proposed redevelopment, that could stretch from 2023 until 2029 with a capital cost between $500 million and $1 billion. Beyond Van Gogh The Immersive Experience is coming to Victoria, British Columbia in November!

Imagine an art gallery of Vincent Van Gogh's greatest works dropped onto a screen the size of an IMAX, then add a symphonic score -- now you have a post-impressionist virtual reality. The floor changes as you walk through this 30K square foot gallery, the images on the walls slide both horizontally and vertically as the scene in the room changes, moving from one canvas to the next. You are seemingly shrunk in size as you walk through and become one with the paintings. There are 300 of Van Gogh's artworks, including such favorites as "The Starry Night", "Sunflowers" and "Cafe Terrace at Night". Comprised of over 4 billion content pixels this Canadian technology and high-resolution portrayal of Van Gogh's works provides visitors with the opportunity to experience art from a new perspective, from that inside a painting.

Tickets are available online from the website: https://vangoghvictoria.com
    Adult Basic timed entry: $31.99
    Student/Senior: $28.99
    Child $23.99:
Also available are various group, VIP and multi-day ticket options also available from the website.

This time-entry exhibit takes about approximately one hour to complete and therefore, the last admission to the gallery for the day is at 7PM.
