Kalamalka Fly Fishers, a local fishing club in Vernon, British Columbia, is gearing up to host their annual Free Fishing weekend for children aged 4-14. This highly anticipated event is a great opportunity for young anglers to learn about the sport of fishing and enjoy a day of outdoor fun.

The event, which will take place at Polson Park Pond (by the Ogopogo Statue), promises to provide a memorable experience for all participants. Thanks to the support of the Freshwater Fisheries of BC 1000 Rainbow trout will be stocked in the pond, ensuring that there will be plenty of fish for the young anglers to catch.

In addition to the abundance of fish, the club will also be providing bait and fish cleaning services, making it easy for children to get involved and enjoy the experience without any hassle (children do not have to watch or be near fish cleaning).

The Kalamalka Fly Fishers are dedicated to promoting the sport of fly fishing and conservation efforts in the community.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 9 am - 4 pm and Sunday, May 5th, from 9 am - 3 pm!

The Joy Run 50 & Relay is an ultra trail marathon on the famous East Coast Trail in Newfoundland Canada raising awareness for mental health and suicide. The trail run was created by runner Tanya Joy in memory of her brother Jody who died by suicide July 2019. It was incepted in 2021 and is a commemoration and heartfelt tribute to the lives that have touched us deeply. It’s also a platform to amplify voices, to remind the world that every storm matters, and that together, we can drive change.

As participants lace up their shoes and embrace the trails, they become part of a larger narrative that aims to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health. Every step taken echoes the commitment to breaking the silence surrounding these vital conversations.

The Joy Run 50 is more than just a trail running event in Newfoundland Canada. It is a community, a family and a voice that declares the value of every life. Ready to be a part of something incredible? Secure your spot and be a part of a movement that spreads joy, connection and love. A 4 person relay option is available for participants not wanting, or unable, to complete the full 50 KM trail run. Hope to see you there!

Interested in becoming a sponsor of the JOY RUN 50 in NL ? Please reach out via email at nlcoastlaladventures@gmail.com

Thank you!!! This event is very near and dear to my heart!
