The autumn season brings bright yellows to this gorgeous area in Banff Alberta Canada. Located only minutes away from the town of Banff. Cascade Ponds is a day use area with picnic tables, 2 shelters, fire pits, bridges, trails and 360 views of the rocky mountains. There is even a huge waterfall cascading down the mountain top to the west. As well as some Parks Canada Red Chairs! The ponds are a popular location for photographers and families. This area is pet friendly but they must remain on a lease at all times.
Note: To use the firepits, do not bring wood into the national park. It is recommended by Alberta Authorities that you only get your wood for this area, in Banff, at one of the many stores, gas stations or local distributors. This massively helps prevent the transmission of invasive forest pests.
I have a few favourite bridges across Canada. From big to small, I love them all. And my little adventure seeker has developed her own love and appreciation for bridges. Cascade Ponds has a couple to explore. They are cute, small, and well...

Another of our favourite things to find in Canada, would be the awesome Parks Canada red chairs! They are placed at some of the most beautiful and or historical locations across the country.
Cascade Ponds is a day use area. So no overnight camping allowed here. You will find a large number of picnic tables, fire pits, pit vault toilets, and 2 picnic shelters that encourage you to spend the day here in Banff with family and friends.
Evergreens surrounding the area give it a bit of a spring feel, even though it's the fall season. The majority of trees in Banff are green all year long.
This area is teeming with wildlife. From the trout in the water, the bears on land, and the birds that fly high in the sky, you never know what or who you might find here while exploring. Many different species of animals can be seen in this...

We wandered the trails for awhile, one leading to the area where the water flows out from the ponds. This area has changed many times over the years. From large floods, building of dams, and many other factors.
Fall is here in Alberta. Some of the mountains have already received their 1st fair amount of snow for this year! Late September to early October is a gamble here for weather. We have been lucky this year to have a wonderful autumn season.
There are a few trails around the pond to wander and explore. All of which are very easy. There is even a bike trail that starts from Cascade Ponds in Banff National Park
We spot fish from bridges quite often. We found a beautiful brown trout under the bridge of the Many Springs trail in the Bow Valley Provincial Park the other day. No fish sightings at Cascade Ponds today though
I personally love Banff during the fall season. The colours are changing, the air is crisp, and there are a lot less people in the park during late September and October. Making it easier to get some great shots
