If you want a hike that lets you overlook 3 lakes, find gnomes, look for handpainted signs in the trees, and give you a good workout, Spion Kop Hiking Trails are it. Located just outside of Lake Country, BC, this network of trails allows you to start at multiple trailheads, has 3 different viewpoints, and allows you to adjust how many km you want to complete.

Explored a new trail on the weekend-Tappen's Bluff. Located near the small town of Tappen in the Shuswaps, this hike leads you to views over Tappen and Salmon Arm. The trail can either be 8km return or as short as 2km depending on how far your vehicle can make it up the FSR.
Side note, if you accidentally leave food scraps beside you with a dog...they might not be there anymore.

Here's a hike to add to your British Columbia Bucket List! I have done this in the spring, summer and now winter and I would have to say, winter is the best! Myra Canyon Trestles are located 30 minutes from Kelowna.
It is a 12km (one way) easy hike that has 18 trestles and 2 tunnels. If 24 km return is a bit, go to at least km 6 (12km return) for the best views or in the first 4 km (8km return) you will pass 8 trestles and 2 tunnels.
You will have to drive around 7km up a logging road and winter driving experience is recommended (4x4 was not needed when we went).

Happy New Year everyone! I hope it has started on a good note and have been able to get a few adventures in!
Did a sunrise hike on New Years Day but the sun didn't show up and it was -18C out and I thought it would be a great idea to attempt to make breakfast on my little hiking stove (after about 40 mins with a little bit of hot water and freezing cold hands, I will just stick to eating breakfast before and bringing hot coffee with me instead. I will keep that for a little bit warmer days). I gave it a 0/10 recommendation
but still got a stellar view in!

Visited Vancouver on the weekend and headed to Capilano Suspension Bridge. Did you know if you're a BC resident, you can get an annual pass on your first visit (pay once) and go as often as you like?!?
Enjoy walking across the suspension bridge (which really bounces) or along the treetops. There is also a cliff walk and activities to keep the young ones busy.
