Things To Do in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Canada

 

Here is a Iroquois Falls Things To Do List for some of the more popular summer and winter adventures and activities enjoyed while visiting and exploring, in and around, Northern Ontario, Canada including the surrounding communities of Connaught, Nellie Lake, Porquis Junction, Val Gagne, Black River- Matheson, Kelso and Monteith.

abitibi lakeGeocaching: Take a road trip exploring the north from Iroquois Falls to Cochrane, Ontario on the GPS Discovery Tour. The tour is a self guided adventure with hand help GPS units visiting with viewpoints, historical sites, nature trails and the Abitibi Model Forest.

Rod & Reel :Fish for trout, walleye, northern pike and perch. There are many lakes and rivers in the region for fishing. Tours, guides and fishing lodges provide fishing adventures throughout the backcountry. Boat launches for those with boat in tow. 

Road Trip : Pack up the family, camera, snacks and plan a road trip sightseeing the north. There are parks and day use picnic sites located on many routes including Hwy #400, Hwy #11, Hwy #117, Hwy #101 and Hwy #17.

Hit the Fairway: Pack up the clubs. For the avid golfer visiting the region there are tees to drive from, fairways to hit and greens to put on in the region around Iroquois Falls, Ontario.

Boating :Tow your boat to Lake Abitibi or sign up for a sightseeing boat tour of the lake with a local operator. There is a boat launch and dock at the Twin Falls Marina on Lake Abitibi north of Iroquois Falls. 

See the Sights : Sightseeing tours from the air, from the water and on land. There are sightseeing tour companies in the region, as well as, self guided sightseeing destinations to explore on foot, by road and with paddle.

Paddle :Canoe or kayak Lake Abitibi or any of the nearby rivers. Or venture out to one of the provincial parks in the region and set out on an adventure. Rentals, guides, lessons and tours available in the region.

Mountain Bike :Explore the backcountry gravel roads or venture out to one of the provincial parks in the region and explore the biking trails. 

Walk of History : Some of the local "points of interest" include the Shay locomotive, the Detroyes Historical Plaque, the pioneer museum and some archaeological sites.

Birding & Wildlife :There are many lakes, bogs and wetland areas in the region that make it an ideal destination for birding and wildlife sightings. Wildlife includes bears, fox, wolf, moose and many species of birds

Off Roading : :A large network of backcountry gravel roads and trails provide an ideal landscape for some great off roading adventures while riding an ATV, dirt bike and/or 4x4.

Sledding :The region around Iroquois Falls enjoys 160+ kilometres of snowmobile trails connecting to communities like Timmins and Cochane.

Ice Fishing : Bundle up, brew some hot liquids and pack it out to the ice shack for some quality time sitting by a heater fishing a hole.

Cross Country Ski : The local ski club maintains 25 kilometres of classic and skating trails. The backcountry gravel roads in the region are for expert xc skiers who enjoy a more challenging experience exploring deep into the wilderness.
