Since moving to Revelstoke B.C., Canada people ask us all the time, “Why, after seeing everything and anything in Canada over and over again,  did you decide on moving to Revelstoke BC?” Good question.

The question we cannot answer at this time is, “For how long?”  There are many factors in play like work, family and the community of  Revelstoke itself. However, at this time, we are “kids in a playground” happy to call  Revelstoke home.

Most people in life must live where they find work.  Sad but true. Many people do not get to decide where they live because they have to live near their work. Sad but true. Most people have to follow the money trail to survive in life. That is the saddest part of it all.

We here at ehCanadaTravel.com are lucky in many ways and on many fronts. One way we are fortunate is that we can live anywhere in Canada.

Our world of commerce is on the internet. To us the internet is our electronic working landscape consisting of  Fibre-optic highways connecting people with communities, cultures, history, traditions and adventures of the world.  This is our office.

We are no way rich. We work on a “nickel and dime” budget. We are hard-working, dedicated award winning brothers who cherish the outdoors and who promote Canada passionately as a top tourism destination for travel and adventure.

We have grown to be the largest online travel and adventure guide in Western/Northern Canada and we are currently expanding into Eastern and Atlantic Canada. We live a quality life. Long ago we tried the “suit and tie” world of quantity and it was not at all as advertised.

So… when work does not dictate your street address, what does? For us it was seeking out a preferred lifestyle.  Both of us like small towns, year round adventures, trying new things, meeting new people and exploring new places.

Our new home would require a peak summer and winter tourism season with an artillery of adventures to study and to learn from. Revelstoke, B.C. provides us this in spades.

Revelstoke is close enough for us to explore the rest of Canada when taking off on research road trips lasting days, weeks, months and, even, years.

We are employed by Mother Nature. Our work involves plenty of photography, researching and documenting parks, protected lands, wilderness backcountry regions, wildlife, wetlands, etc. Revelstoke, B.C. is central to parks like the Mount Revelstoke, Glacier and Yoho National Parks and the Martha Creek Provincial Park. Not to mention the Banff and Jasper National Parks nearby and about 10 others.

Revelstoke, B.C. works for us because of our fascination with high elevations like mountain peaks, summits, viewpoints, cliffs and glaciers. The community of Revelstoke neighbours the Begbie, Revelstoke, Selkirk and the Monashee Mountains. And then there is Mount Robson nearby  too and so many others.

Revelstoke, B.C. is home to some of our favourite summer activities – backpacking, hiking and wilderness camping. And, here in Revy,  we can enjoy hiking trails and gravel access roads leading to nowhere which is somewhere to us.

Revelstoke, B.C. is home because our favourite water activities are fishing and canoeing. To enjoy these activities you need lakes and rivers. Revelstoke, B.C. is anchored by two massive lakes (Revelstoke and Arrow Lakes) and rivers (Columbia and Illecillewaet Rivers). To top it off the Columbia River Wetlands is not far away.

Revelstoke, B.C. is home because we like to “shred” POWDER SNOW during the winter season.  Watching us snowboard is like motion art and a comedy of errors as we destroy our knees navigating moguls, falling face first down drops and catching edges meeting trees. A snowboard mountain must be real close by and we believe Revelstoke may have a great one.

There are no big box stores in Revy. There are no neon lights.

Are there any traffic lights in town? We have one.

How about nightly chaos, honking horns and people cursing? Just when we watch movies.

Line ups for everything? What is a line up again?

Mostly, we work long hours, fit some play in, work  more long hours and walk everywhere. The jeep is parked. In fact we see more walkers and bikers than we do cars.

Our vehicle is now only used for work related duties like out-of-town research road trips, appointments, meet and greets, media events and speaking engagements. Otherwise… every day life is explored on foot.

Revelstoke down side? Every town has some. But that is for another time and place.

But, then again, what do we know – we have only researched every major tourism community in the country 1 to 5 times each.
