South Alberta Parks & Trails

The green space area along the Oldman River is home to narrow leaf cottonwood trees and many wildlife species. Some of the wildlife sightings commonly viewed in the park include waterfowl., beaver, deer, pheasants, white tailed rabbits and muskrat.

The Bertha Lake Trail highlight destinations include Bertha Falls and Bertha Lake. Both are accessed from the same trail. The trailhead is located near the campground in the Waterton Townsite.

Much of the park is out in the open with some tree cover provided on the outskirts of the park. In the centre of the park, where much of the attention is focused, is McKay Lake surrounded by grass lawns.

Pearce Estate Park lies in a curve of the Bow River as it flows through the southeast part of Calgary and contains a 15 hectare reconstructed wetland and is home to the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery and Bow Habitat Visitor Centre.

During the summer months the Bow is a destination for such activities as tubing, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, birdwatching and fishing. On almost any given day in the summer there are people floating down the Bow through Calgary.

The Erratic Rock, today, is a tourism attraction in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada. There is a walking trail leading out to the rock. There are information signs located along the route. The trail then loops behind Big Rock before it loops back to the parking lot. Short and sweet.
