Falcon Lake is a resort village located on the shores of Falcon Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park in Eastern Manitoba, Canada. The Falcon Lake region includes Caddy Lake and West Hawk Lake.
The Falcon Lake, West Hawk Lake and Caddy Lake region is a developed area of the park with a wide selection of accommodation types. There are resorts, inns, cottages, cabins, guest ranches, fishing lodges and campgrounds in or near the area.
West Hawk Lake was created from a fallen meteor hence the name Crater Lake. There are services in the town including a marina, convenience store, gas station, restaurant and meteor museum. West Hawk Lake is the only crater lake in Canada that can be accessed by vehicle.
Falcon Lake is the main service hub in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. The townsite is located on the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy #1) therefore it is easily accessed. Highway #1 is the main highway in the country and it passes through the park. Many stop for services in Falcon Lake when traveling between the provinces of Manitoba and Ontario.
Falcon Lake provides many services important to travelers who are passing through and for travelers who stay and play in the park. There are restaurants, gas stations, ATM, grocery stores, retail stores, gift stores, outfitters, guides, tours, coffee house, golf course, fish hatchery, equipment rentals, marina, laundromat, and more.
The Falcon Lake, West Hawk Lake and Caddy Lake area is located in the southern section of the 270, 000 hectare Whiteshell Provincial Park. It is a base camp for many tours, guides and outfitters. It is also home to many adventures and activities year round.
During the summer sunshine months the activities enjoyed in the region include boating, water skiing, golfing, fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, hunting, birdwatching, picnicking, camping, horseback riding and wildlife watching.
Some of the activities enjoyed in the winter months include xc skiing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and ice fishing.
