Watson Lake Park

Watson Lake is a recreation destination and campground park located in the community of Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. The lake park is located off the beaten track, away from the community, nestled in a forest of trees on the shores of the biggest lake in the area.

Watson Lake is a very popular destination for many activities year round. During the summer months the lake and surrounding forests are good for activities like swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, hiking, water skiing and picnicking.

In the winter months, when the lake freezes over, activities enjoyed include ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

Fishing Watson Lake consists of lake trout and northern pike. A fishing licence is required to fish in the Yukon Territory. Located in the campground park is a boat launch and a floating pier.

In the forests and hills surrounding the community of Watson Lake there are over 70+ kilometres of recreation trails. Many of the trails are located near the lake. And some of the trails near Watson Lake are loop trails while many connect with other trails leading away from the lake.

Some of the recreation trails connecting to the campground area include the Telegraph ( 4 kilometres) and Beacon ( 5 kilometres) Trails. Other trails explore the forest behind the community leading to the ski hill and nearby lakes.

Some of the other recreation trails in the Watson Lake system include the Birds Eye View (4 kilometres), Lucy Allen Loop (3.5 kilometres), Pipeline ( 6 Kilometres), Liard River (4 kilometres), Raven Lunch (5 Kilometres), CMD (1 kilometre) and the Mid Lakes (2 kilometres) Trail. The longest trail being the 8 kilometre Ski Hill, North Fire Guard and the Y2C2 Trails.

There is a campground and a day use area on the shores of Watson Lake. The Campground is separated into two loop campground circles. The Day Use Area is closest to the first loop of campsites.

The campsites are large with many pull through sites available. Some can be tight for pull throughs. There is a children's playground, beach access, picnic tables, firewood, picnic shelter and pit toilets. However there is no power or sewer hook ups.
