Hiking The Crack at Killarney Provincial Park

The hike starts off by following an old logging road and then on a trail that takes you through a forested area, over boardwalk and around a lake. The next section starts the climb on the quartzite La Cloche mountains, an actual mountain range in Ontario. The trees in this area thin out and it becomes quite open. After climbing a couple of ridges, you get to the bottom of The Crack, a deep crevasse, where the rock splits and forms walls on the sides of the trail. This part is the most difficult because you are required to climb and scramble over large, sharp boulders in order to make your way up. The large boulders broken away from the rock faces provide a stairway to be climbed to reach the top of the ridge.

Beautiful Views From The Top of The Crack Hiking Trail
