Cheakamus Lake is located south of the Village of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada resting high up in the mountains at an elevation of over 900 metres. The mountains towering over the lake stretch 1600 metres into the sky throwing down reflections of snow capped peaks onto the lake.

The easy grade, very well maintained hard earth trail leading to Cheakamus Lake is 3 km in length. The trail wanders over wooden bridges and creeks leading explorers through a swath of forests cushioned with moss, ferns and deadfall.

The Cheakamus Lake Trail is located in Garibaldi Provincial Park. The activities enjoyed on the lake include hiking, mountain biking, canoeing and fishing. In fact it is not uncommon to see people portaging along the trail with a kayak or canoe on their shoulders.

The Whistler, BC Cheakamus Lake Trail is a comfortable one-way hiking trail which should take no longer than an hour to complete. The hiking trail eventually butts up to the shoreline of the lake. From the lakeshore, continue following the lake for a few hundred more metres and the trail eventually runs into a wilderness campground.

From Cheakamus Lake explorers can hike to the Black Tusk via Helm Creek. There are other marked trailheads found along the long gravel road leading to the parking lot of the Cheakamus Trailhead.

On the drive to Chekamus Lake look for the blue signs marking the trail entrances to the Farside Trail, Highline Trail and the Crator Lookout Trail.
