Descanso Bay Regional Park is located in a small cove with three bays, just north of the BC Ferry Terminal, on Gabriola Island, Gulf Islands on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

The bays provide an opportunity for relaxation, picnicking, camping and birdwatching. Birdwatching includes sea birds and predator birds like eagles and turkey vultures.

There is lots of marine activity to view also like boats, kayaks, sailboats, yachts, fishing vessels and BC Ferries navigating the nearby ocean waterways. It can be a busy waterway with the ferry terminal and Descanso Bay right at the entrance of Northumberland Channel.

The Descanso Bay Regional Park is a convenient and easily accessible destination for recreation and camping. There are over 30 campsites in the park providing waterfront access for campers and tenters. Camping fees apply. There is a day use picnic area in the park as well.

There are three bays in the Descanso Bay Regional Park. Some of the activities enjoyed while exploring the bays and coastline in the park include kayaking, swimming, beachcombing and fishing. There is a boat launch for kayaks and small boats.

How To Get ToDescanso Bay Regional Park

From the BC Ferry Terminal on Gabriola Island take a quick left onto Taylor Bay Road. Continue traveling on Taylor Bay Road for about 670 metres to the park entrance. It will be on your left.
