The Northern Lights can be seen across the country of Canada! The most popular places to find them are the 3 prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. As well as our northern region of Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Many times they are seen from coast to coast, all the way into the United States. You just need to get away from the city lights sometimes!

I was sitting on my porch and noticed the sky had a slight glow to it. I flicked night mode on my camera and snapped a quick picture to see if what I seeing was really the Northern Lights. As you can see over my neighbours house, there is a definite green haze happening. That's when I sent a text to someone I know is out of the city and asked if they could see them. Yup! Start the car! Lady Aurora is awake!

If you have a vehicle, or know someone who would be up for an Aurora adventure, it's best to get out of the cities or towns and away from as much light pollution as possible to view the Northern Lights in Canada

One second it's barely visible, the next second a huge flare erupts bringing you bursts of colours in the sky

Playing around with the settings on your cellphone can help you capture the Northern Lights in different ways. This is just on basic settings. Doesn't have a chance to capture all of the lights moving to brighten everything up.

Directly above me I noticed the sky just bursting with colours and dancing like crazy. It's amazing how far cellphones have come to be able to capture these amazing displays.

It's not every time that you get all of the colours lighting up the sky! A lot of times, it is just the greens that are visible during an aurora borealis display. This was a fantastic "season opener" shall we say.

It took me no time to head west out of Calgary and find an amazing viewpoint just off the Trans Canada Highway. They were dancing for the whole drive, and suddenly burst into colours as I pulled over

I had a specific destination in mind when I left the house. I had to stop part way to get some shots because when she flares up, that could be it afterwards! I couldn't miss the show and just pulled into a roadside pullout for a few minutes.

The starry sky and lack of moon made for amazing photos of the Northern Lights in November.

Normally, I avoid all lights when looking for the Aurora light shows. But I really could not resist taking a few photos of the factory reflecting with the Northern Lights dancing behind it!

Along the Trans Canada Hwy, in Dead Man's Flats, there is a roadside pull out that made for the perfect spot to stop and watch another northern lights flare!

Swirls and flashes of bright lights take over the sky as the bright colours of the Northern Lights mesmerize you

As the Northern Lights start to fade into the sky, I decided it was time to move locations again while it was quiet.

As I was turning back to head east on the Trans Canada Highway, I couldn't help but stop and take a photo of the cars, dark mountain silhouette and glowing sky.

The thing is, when she's out showing off, it may last all night, or it may only last 10 minutes. You better be fast if you want to catch the show. I waited for awhile longer and it was apparent the best of it was behind us now. Time to head home...
