Garibaldi Provincial Park

Garibaldi Provincial Park is located near Whistler and Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada. The 194,676 hectare park was first established in the 1920s. 

The park is well known for its lakes, flowering meadows, camping opportunities and beautiful scenery. Garibaldi Provincial Park is, however, best known for its 90+ kilometres of hiking and backpacking trails. 

The summer activities most enjoyed in the park during the summer season include hiking, camping, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, birding, climbing, mountain biking, picnicking, wildlife watching and fishing.

There are restrictions on where you can enjoy some of these activities. Fishing is only permitted on Garibaldi Lake, Cheakamus Lake and Mamquam Lake. Mountain biking is only allowed on the Diamond Head and Cheakamus Lake Trails. To enjoy a day of canoeing and kayaking head over to Cheakamus Lake.

During the winter season the activities enjoyed include snowshoeing and skiing. These activities are only permitted in the Diamond Head region. There are no snowmobile opportunities in this park.

Throughout the park there are easy access campgrounds and wildlife walk-in campsites. The main easy access campgrounds are located at Garibaldi Lake, Taylor Meadows and in the Elfin Lakes area.

The wilderness campsites accessed by hiking trails are located near Elfin Lakes, Cheakamus Lake, Garibaldi Lake, Russet Lake, Wedgemount Lake Rampart Ponds, Taylor Meadows, Helm Creek and Singing Creek. There are overnight huts with some services near Elfin Lakes, Russet lake and Wedgemount Lake.

For picnicking in the park for the day there are some hike-in day use sites available in Diamond Head, Cheakamus lake, Wedgemount Lake, and Singing Pass areas.
