Osoyoos BC Osoyoos Lake is Canada's warmest lake located in Canada's only desert - the Sonora Desert. The lake is a very popular destination in the community of Osoyoos because of the recreational activities on the lake and the close proximity to downtown.

During the sunshine months the lake attracts people who enjoy water activities like swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, wind surfing, water skiing, sailing and fishing.Osoyoos Photos

In the spring months boaters are on the lake fishing for rainbow trout. Many are trolling where the water exits at the north end of the lake. Otherwise people come to fish for kokanee, bass and perch. It is said, but it might be rumor, that BC's largest largemouth bass was caught in Osoyoos Lake.

The shoreline on Osoyoos Lake is very busy in the summer. Just off shore are marinas, piers and boats tied up. Just past them are more boats water skiing. Closer to shore, at some of the parks situated on the lake, families gather on large sandy beaches to sun bathe, read a book and/or just to relax.

Cottonwood Park and Haynes Point Provincial Park are two of the more popular park destinations situated on Osoyoos Lake. Both parks provide easy access to sandy beaches and water activities. Both parks enjoy picnic tables and viewing benches overlooking the lake.

Pioneer Walkway is another option of viewing the lake while taking a stroll downtown. The paved pathway follows along the shore of Osoyoos Lake passing by motels and stores.
