Northstar Mountain is a year-round mountain recreation destination located west of the community of Kimberley, BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The mountain is home to the Kimberley Alpine Ski Resort.
The alpine ski resort and surrounding back country are popular destinations for skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, heli skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months.
The ski resort enjoys a vertical of 751 metres attracting skiers and snowboarders to the mountain. The mountain resort terrain covers 729 hectares (1800 acres) and is accessed by 80 ski runs and a snowboard terrain park.
The ski runs on the mountain cater to all skiers and boarders of all skill levels. On the mountain 20% of the ski runs are designed for beginners, 46% for intermediate, 38% for expert. Some of the beginner runs on the mountain include Canada Way, Midnight and Ridgeway Trails. Some of the expert "black diamond" ski runs include the Bunker Hill, Easter Face, Magma, Vortex, Windfall and Jackpot Trails. The longest run on the mountain is 6.4 kilometres.
The ski runs and snow activities are serviced by 5 lifts on the mountain including 1 High Speed Quad Chair, 1 Triple Chair, 1 Double Chair, 1 T-Bar, 1 Carpet lift.
During the summer months the Kimberley Mountain Resort becomes a hiking, golfing and horseback riding hot spot.
Services on the mountain include accommodations and a few restaurants, coffee shop, retail stores, pub, bank machine, day care, rental shops and lessons.
