Alki Creek Trail is a challenging hiking trail, loaded with alpine scenery, located north of St. Mary Lake near Marysville which is west of the community of Kimberly, BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada.

The trail is popular for wildlife viewing, photography and sightseeing. It is a one-way 9.5 kilometre hiking adventure following a spur road, a single track trail and then over some rock chutes. The hiking route includes switchbacks, navigating through mountain passes, alpine meadows and forests. It is no easy adventure.

The Alki Creek Trail offers up some spectacular scenic views of mountain ranges, deep valleys, creeks and wildlife. The highlight of the hiking adventure are the views of Mt. Murphy, Bootleg and Pyramid Mountains and the rest of Purcell Mountain Range.

The trail takes about 3-5 hours one way. The total elevation gain of the hike is 1440 m (4730 ft.). The hike not only provides great views but it also provides a taste of history. Along the route you pass a few old mines and artifacts including the Mystery and Blue Peter Mines.

The hiking trail is up hill and therefore conditioning and preparation are important as you are hiking in the mountains where weather and temperatures change quickly. It is very important to have good foot wear, water and layering of clothing.

It is also important to note that when hiking along the Alki Creek Trail to be aware of the loose boulders. Sprained ankles tend to cut trips short. There are no services on this trail. Pack out what you pack in.
