The Big Grass Marsh is a protected wildlife reserve for migratory birds. The birds arrive at the marsh during migration to feed, nest and rest. The main bird species which visit the region every year during migration include ducks, gulls, geese and sandhill cranes.
Delta Marsh is recognized as a designated wildlife protection area and a bird gaming site (hunting). The wetland environment is one of the largest lacustrine marshes (marsh located in or on the edge of a lake) in North America. It is the largest marsh in the Lake Manitoba region.
Fort La Reine today is an interpretive museum detailing the history of the region through its buildings and artifacts. There are over 25 heritage buildings and various machinery located on site in a village format.
sland Park is the main events park and recreation destination located in the community of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. The park is the site of a winter festival of lights, summer events and year round activities.
The white sandy beach is the highlight of the park. The beach is the central hub of activity in the park for swimming, sunbathing, reading, sightseeing and birdwatching. Other activities enjoyed throughout the park include camping, hiking, sightseeing, picnicking, windsurfing and fishing.
