Transfer Beach Park is the central gathering place, heck the IT place, on the waterfront for many who visit Ladysmith, BC, Canada on Vancouver Island. The large park is a major gathering spot for summer activities, for festivals, for attractions, for history and community events.
Transfer Beach
Some of the summer activities enjoyed at Transfer Beach include swimming, picnicking, Frisbee, beach volleyball and kayaking. For children there is a playground and a water spray park. Down on the water is a sand box with climbing apparatus and a play boat. And then there is the sandy beach and swimming.

During the summer months, surrounded by grass lawns, beach blankets, picnic tables, trees and beached kayaks is a concession stand. Just up the hill from the food stand is a washroom and some change rooms. To the left, in the corner of the park is a picnic shelter for groups. And further left is an open amphitheater with benches for special events like logger sports and festivals.

There are many picnic tables at Transfer Beach and on a sunshine day most will be in use. Some are hidden nicely under the shade of trees while others are out in the open under the glare of the sun. Because of the thick, soft grass lawns in the park many bring a beach blanket and enjoy the day in sunshine bliss. This park is very popular for children and there are many.

Throughout the park are sitting benches, historic artifacts and some monuments. The benches in the park double as  birdwatching lookouts, as many come to the park to sit for hours with binoculars in hand. Some of the birds in the area include Bald Eagles, Blue Herons and lots of seagulls.
