Andrews Place Road Trail is a short out-and-back trail located in the community of Tlell. The trailhead can be located at the end of Andrews Place Road, at the end of the cul-de-sac and next to a hydro pole. The terrain is mostly flat, but there are some tree roots, minor deadfall and a set of old stairs one will have to navigate. Those obstacles notwithstanding, the trail is still classified as “easy.”

Because of the route’s short length (approximately 250 meters one-way), it should only take you 5 minutes or less to reach the trail’s terminus point: A pebbly beach on the edge of Naikoon Provincial Park. At low tide, the sandy beach is more prominent and suitable for a swim in the Pacific Ocean; otherwise, walk the pebbly shore and admire Naikoon Provincial Park’s varied and notable sand dunes.

In terms of terrain, the early portion of the trail takes you through Sitka Spruce and dense salal bushes. After a few minutes, you emerge from the woods and onto the fragile sand dune environment. Tread lightly here before arriving at the beach.

This short trail is much less about recreational hiking and more about providing beach access. For those wishing to swim in the ocean or spend hours beachcombing, the Andrews Place Road Trail is a reasonable and attractive option.
