Morton Lake Provincial Park

Morton Lake Provincial Park is a recreation lake destination located north of the community of Campbell River, BC on Vancouver Island, Canada.

The wilderness park is a wilderness activity park covered in second generation Douglas Fir trees. Amongst the park, hidden in the trees, are two fresh water lakes - the Morton and Mohun Lakes.

Morton Lake and a section of Mohun Lake are both located in the 74 hectare park. Both lakes are considered remote wilderness lakes. And they should be as they are located at the end of a long gravel logging road.

Both lakes are well known in the region as good fishing lakes full of rainbow, cutthroat or dolly varden trout. Fresh water fishing season is open from April to June and September to October. To access the lakes there is a boat launch on Mohun Lake. To fish in British Columbia, Canada all who fish require a fishing license.

The two lakes are also very popular for canoeing and kayaking. The two lakes combine for a great paddle route and provide endless hours of exploring a wilderness park. Mohun Lake is also the doorway to the 47 kilometre paddle route called the Sayward Canoe and Portage Circuit.

The two lakes attract allot of attention from many activities including fishing like canoeing, kayaking beachcombing, swimming, birdwatching, sightseeing, hiking and camping.

There is a small wilderness recreation campground on Morton Lake. Wilderness camping means less services. Facilities include picnic tables, a parking area, two change houses, pit toilets and an information shelter.
