Canoeing in Algonquin Provincial Park

2010 was another great year for adventure. During our 2010 tourism research we explored the province of Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. It was glorious. It was exciting. It was Canadian! For your enjoyment we have compiled a Top 10 List of our most memorable adventures and travel destinations in 2010.

Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario: Beautiful wilderness park measuring 765345 hectares featuring lakes, forests, bogs, rivers, cliffs, trails, campgrounds and beaches. To explore the park one must canoe in or hike trails.

Bruce Peninsula, Ontario: Amazing park with wilderness scenery – non more famous than the Bruce Peninsula Trail. Trails in park visit cliffs, remote beaches and lighthouses. While you are there enjoy the eclectic environment of the Village of Tobermory.

Quebec City, Quebec: One of the most beautiful cities visited in 2010. The highlights were the streets of Old Quebec, the fortification wall, the waterfront and the history. It is a place of romance and charm.

Manitoulin Island, Ontario: An island on Georgian Bay with small villages, long beautiful drives, wide open coastlines and First Nation culture. Highlights included Cup & Saucer Trail, Bridal Veil Falls, Misery Bay and Providence Bay.

Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick: Amazing rock sculptures, red sand cliffs, wide open beaches, mud flats and some very low and high tides. It was a treat to walk the beaches at low tides and stand with the red rock pillars.

Ottawa, Ontario: The capital city of Canada was a pleasant surprise. The city was clean, well kept and friendly. It enjoys some of the best city bike paths and biking circuits in the province. Highlights included the Parliament Buildings, the changing of the guards, Rideau Hall and the Rideau Canal.

Acadian Peninsula, New Brunswick: A French speaking sector of New Brunswick. What caught our eye were the hundreds of Acadian flags decorating yards, buildings and roads. A proud display of their history. The highlights were the Village of Shippagan, the waterfront boardwalk spanning the entire waterfront and the islands of Miscou and Lameque.

St. Martins, New Brunswick: A little out of the way village which is the doorway to the Fundy Trail. The park includes hiking trails, lookout points providing amazing views of the Bay of Fundy. Highlights included the sandy beaches (Melvin Beach), red rock cliffs and wide open scenery. Often we enjoyed the beaches with no one else in sight.

Mount Tremblant, Quebec: Mountain resort with pastel buildings, gondola ride, fountains, attractions and allot of activity. Plus a beautiful provincial park with camping, hiking trails and waterfalls. Highlights included the Lookout Falls and the La Poisson Trail.

Fredericton, New Brunswick: The north and south Riverfront Trail in the community is a treat for bikers, hikers and sightseers. The path connects to a lighthouse, parks and a bridge spanning the St. John River. The river trail is an excellent way to explore the community. Another highlight is the Odell Park.

All of these and hundreds more parks, trails and communities will be fully featured on our upcoming EH Tourism websites OntarioEH.com, QuebecEH.com and NewBrunswickEH.com. All part of the CanadaEH.net Travel Network.
