Beautiful Wilderness Highway Drive

After spending a few days taking pictures, researching in Trail we set out on the road for Nelson. Love Nelson. Great little community. People are active and friendly. Much to like here. The glimmering Kootenay Lake, the waterfront walk and, some of the highest concentrations of outdoor patio coffee houses and restaurants I have ever seen. The Kootenay Glacier National Park nearby was our home for the night. After a quick chow down and some campfire stories Bro and I hit the sack. Early night for an early start as we wanted to be showered and shaved and on the road by 8 AM.

Today, was a drive we both were looking forward to. It is one of the best wilderness highway drives in BC with alpine river, lake and mountain views. The Nelson to Kaslo to New Denver to Nakusp drive is a must for any who venture out this way. It is not well known or advertised but well worth the surprise. Many motorcycles and cyclists love this route for touring. We enjoy it for the spectacular views and the lack of traffic. It is an enjoyable drive through high mountain passes.

During our drive we stopped at many rest stops. Some still knee deep in snow and lakes partially frozen over. We visited the caves at the Ainsworth Hotsprings and drove to the alpine setting of the Nakusp Hotsprings. Check out Nakusp on our website. http://www.kootenayseh.com/nakusp/

Drives like today make you feel good. So spectacular how can you not. Once in Nakusp we headed to Box Lake. A gem of find on a wilderness lake about 8 kilometres east of Nakusp. Not much for services but we are equipped in the travel pods and we are low maintenance.

Picture above was taken at one of the rest stops where the alpine lake is partially frozen located in between Kaslo and New Denver.

Good Night All.  Talk soon.
