The Athabasca Falls is a recreation and sightseeing destination located south of the community of Jasper, Alberta, Canada in the Jasper National Park. The highlight of the Athabasca Falls Trail is the viewpoint over looking the waterfall measuring 23 metres.

Photo GalleryThe waterfall lookout is situated on the high cliffs of the Athabasca River. However, the falls are not known for their height but are best known for being powerful. The large volume of water surges through a narrow gorge creating plenty of white water and river currents of fury.

There are numerous trails in the region exploring the falls and away from the falls. The main trail from the parking lot leading to the lookout of the falls is paved, wheelchair friendly and short. At various points on the Athabasca River are lookout points for sightseeing. Near the parking lot there is a day use picnic area and some washrooms.

The Athabasca Falls, near Jasper, Alberta, Canada, attraction is one of the more popular waterfalls in the park because it is easily accessible. Often during in the mid day hours during the peak summer months the falls are busy with people, and at times very crowded. To avoid crowds view the falls in the early morning hours.

During the winter months the trails located near Athabasca Falls are converted to cross country ski trails. In the summer months white water rafting tours and river kayakers launch just down stream from the waterfall on the Athabasca River.
