Bras d'Or Lake is an inland lake in the middle of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. The lake is a mixture of fresh and sea water connected by channels to the Atlantic Ocean. Bras d.Or Lake measures 100 kilometres long by 50 kilometres wide and is seperated into the Northern and Southern Basin. The most prominant features of the lake are the Washabuck Peninsula, Boularderie Island and the Boisdale Hills. The Bras d'Or Lake Biosphere Reserve (named by UNESCO in 2011) is home to many villages including (but not limited to) Baddeck, St. Peter's, Big Beach, East Bay, Dundee, Iona, Eskasoni, Little Bras d'Or, and Whycocomagh.
