The Twinkle Tour in Brooks, Alberta, Canada is an informal, self-guided Christmas light display tour from the comfort of your own vehicle. Businesses and residents go all out around here for Christmas. From the Trans Canada Highway, Brooks is an easy-to-access town in southeastern Alberta, Canada. All services are available here. With a population of over 14000 residents, you can find everything you might need in Brooks. Furthermore, this little prairie town knows how to put on a great display of Christmas lights! You shouldn't visit or pass by Brooks at night during the holiday season without taking a drive through this cheery looking town. The Brooks & District Museum Light Tour is Part of the Twinkle Tour in Brooks Alberta Canada

My first find while in Brooks during December, was the Christmas light show put on at The Brooks & District Museum. Known as The Musical Lane of Lights Tour, this is fabulous show of sparkling lights and decorations that are displayed in a loop circling the museums property. Conveniently, you can stay warm in your vehicle while you drive through and watch the bright cheery displays of Christmas lights. There are even dancing musical lights playing along with Christmas music.  Don't forget to tune into the radio station, posted on the sign as you enter the tour, to hear the music that goes along in sync with the light show. This driving tour is free to enter, but they do accept and appreciate donations as well. This Twinkle Tour in Brooks Alberta display of holiday lights can be seen from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily from December 1 until January 1 each year.  Alternatively, the museum is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and offers a wonderful insight to the history and people of the Brooks Region in Alberta, Canada.

The Brooks Region Twinkle Tour

Brooks and area residents...well done. This is a phenomenal show of community, as the towns put on a wonderful, informal driving tour of Christmas lights, complete with a map! Clearly neighbours around Brooks go all out on some of these holiday lights. From classically decorated homes, to cute unique colourful candyland houses, to some with an absolute party of lights and projection shows. With that, you're sure to be dazzled by some of the Brooks Twinkle Tour Christmas light displays. Along with the city of Brooks, the town of Bassano and the Village of Duchess are also worth a visit to see their lights as well. It should be noted that the best times to view the lights are from after dark to about 9 p.m. daily.

Christmas Lights Road Trip in Southern Alberta

The Brooks Region of Alberta is a fantastic destination, or road trip pit stop while traveling over the holidays. Even if you're just passing by when it's dark, it is worth taking a drive through the area. Maybe you're visiting friends or relatives in the area. What a fun way to get out and spend some time together. With their elaborate displays and sense of community during the Christmas season, it's sure to put a smile on everyone's face. What's more, is that there is even a Brooks Twinkle Tour Map highlighting some of the best lit homes around the Brooks area, which makes finding all these fun spots quite easy for out of towners.

Thank You Goes Out to Brooks Region Tourism and Citizens

As someone who finds Christmas lights to be the best part of the holiday season, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who puts up even just 1 string of lights. While it takes the town to really make this happen, a special thanks goes out to Brooks Region Tourism for putting the map together for the last 3 years. It is extremely helpful for travelers, like me, who are not familiar with the area. Without it, I might only have driven down a road or 2 and missed some of the best Christmas lights I have ever seen.

Visiting Brooks During the Holidays

All in all, if you're on a road trip in southern Alberta and want to get off the highway for a bit, I recommend stopping in Brooks to explore. They even have a couple of outdoor skating rinks if you have your skates packed. It's fun to stop and grab a hot chocolate somewhere around town and then take the tour. Being a self guided tour, you can make it as long or short of an event as you'd like. Although some are worth staying put for a bit and watching the show. Drive safe and happy holidays!
