North Arm Day Use Park

The North Arm Territorial Park is located on the Frontier Highway (Hwy #3) southwest of the community of Yellowknife, Northwest Territory, Canada. The park is a day use area, picnic site and a rest stop for weary travelers located on the shores of Great Slave Lake.

Activities enjoyed in the day use park while visiting the North Arm of Great Slave Lake include picnicking, wind sailing, canoeing, sightseeing, boating and fishing. Fishing requires a fishing licence. Fishing is for lake trout, arctic grayling and northern pike.

The North Arm Day Use Park enjoys large grass lawns, a large waterfront beach and some good tree cover from the sun. The beach is a mixture of sand, pebble and boulders.

The amenities in the park include picnic tables (both beach and lawn), firewood, fire pits, pit toilets, boat launch and a kitchen group shelter. There is no camping in the park.

There are some old artifacts located just outside of the park if you are interested in doing a bit of exploring. Follow the abandoned dirt road and a trail leads into the forest where there is an old trapper cabin and horse plow.

The Northern Arm Day Use Park is a summer park open from May to September.

How to Get to North Arm Day Use Park

Travel the Frontier Highway (Hwy #3) north towards the community of Yellowknife, Northwest Territory, Canada. Just pass the Chan Lake Day Use Area is the North Arm Day Use Area on your right. The North Arm park is 107 kilometres (65 miles) southeast of the community of Yellowknife.
