Located just downstream from the mighty Smokey Hollow Falls, Grindstone Cascade offers a much more intimate, rugged forest experience. It feels like a wild northern river right in the heart of Waterdown. True to its name, this is a 5-meter (16-foot) classical cascade where Grindstone Creek tumbles down a series of staggered limestone steps and boulders rather than a single drop. Because it relies heavily on the creek’s volume, it looks completely different season to season—ranging from a roaring torrent to a series of delicate, clear trickles over the stones.
