While its massive sibling upstairs gets all the viral fame, the Lower Falls offers a much more intimate, secluded forest atmosphere. Tucked away down in the lower valley, it feels like stepping into a hidden ravine world away from the main lookout crowds. This is a beautiful 5.5-meter (18-foot) classical cascade where Stoney Creek takes its second major plunge down the Niagara Escarpment. Unlike the sheer, vertical drop of the Upper Falls, the water here rushes over a rugged slope of stepped limestone and fractured boulders, pooling beautifully at the base before continuing its journey toward the CPKC railway line.
