SUMMARY:2023 Tian Jin Festival, Burnaby BC
DESCRIPTION:Tian Jin Festival, affectionately called the TJ Fest for short, is a celebration of the cultural diversity of the Chinese community in Vancouver, with live music and lots of great, authentic Taiwanese street food. Some of the food items this year will include salt and pepper chicken, savoury Chinese buns, Taiwanese pork belly hamburgers, pepper pork pastries, and even traditional Taiwanese Bento Boxes will be on offer.\n\nTJ Fest takes place across two blocks at the Tian-Jin Temple at 3426 Smith Avenue, in Burnaby BC, and this year's event will be even bigger than ever, with expanded offerings set up in an adjacent park featuring free activities for children and families.\n\nThis is a free event taking place on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday May 7, from 11 AM to 4 PM on both days. In addition to the food, guests can look forward to performances and an artisanal community market.\n\nAlthough most of the event is about Taiwanese culture, and Taoism, many other cultures are at the festival as well. This is best seen through the variety of live performances. There is an outdoor stage where musicians and dancers provide entertainment. Some performances are traditional and culturally significant, so TJ Fest is a good place to learn about a multitude of cultures. The stage area also has several roundtables with chairs and stools, and there are more places to eat out on the street.
