I had the pleasure of joining our local Girl Guides group for a mid-September visit to Little Farm on Wall Street, catching the farm just as another Alberta flower season was beginning to wind down.
Located in Clearwater County near Eckville, roughly halfway between Sylvan Lake and Rocky Mountain House, this little flower farm offers seasonal and sustainably grown flowers on an 80-acre property. Visitors can find fresh wrapped bouquets and arrangements, seasonal U-pick flowers, workshops and plenty of colourful blooms growing right on the farm.
And then there’s the shop. Little Farm on Wall Street makes its own small-batch soy candles right in the farm studio and carries a fun mix of snacks, plants, home and garden goodies, locally inspired products and unique gifts.
Even this late in September, I still found plenty of colour to photograph, including strawflowers, Rudbeckia, Craspedia, asters, dahlias and one very photogenic purple delphinium.
Planning a visit? Because this is a working seasonal flower farm, I’d recommend checking the Little Farm on Wall Street website or Facebook page, or calling ahead, before making the drive. Flower availability, U-pick opportunities, workshops and visiting times can change throughout the season.
A flower garden, tiny country shop and a backroad adventure with the Girl Guides? Pretty solid way to spend a September evening in Central Alberta.

Even the parking area has personality, with flowers, old wagon pieces, a country bench and a handwritten welcome.

These cheerful yellow globes are Craspedia, also known as billy buttons or drumstick flowers, and they definitely stand out in a flower bed.
