Our 2026 EH Canada Travel Adventure Seeker Retreat took us about an hour down the road from Bearberry Cabins to spend the day exploring Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

With three carloads of Canada Adventure Seekers, we headed into town to shop, eat and see what we could discover along the way. Rocky Mountain House has plenty of character, starting with the eye-catching fort-style entrance sign welcoming visitors to town. The community also has an international connection where Rocky Mountain House has been twinned with Kamikawa, Hokkaido, Japan since 1984.

We fueled up at the Rocky Mountain House Bakery, checked out the coffee shop next door and wandered through the downtown area. Some of the Seekers even ventured off for a little thrift shopping.

Another stop on our Rocky Mountain House adventure was Rival Trade Brewing Co., where the group had a chance to relax, check out the brewery and spend some time together before continuing our exploring.

Downtown Rocky Mountain House is a cute, fun and welcoming place to slow down and wander, with local shops, food stops and plenty more to discover throughout the surrounding Central Alberta region.

And because this is Alberta, the drive back to Bearberry Cabins became an adventure of its own. Near Burnstick Lake, we drove straight into an intense August hailstorm which was loud, white and wild enough to have the whole vehicle reacting! Alberta summer weather certainly knows how to keep a road trip interesting.

From bakery treats, local shops and a brewery stop to unexpected hail on the backroads, it was another memorable day of exploring Central Alberta together during the 2026 EH Canada Travel Adventure Seeker Retreat.
