Well, Rockin' Thunder certainly lived up to its name!
I made the three-hour road trip to Edmonton for Rockin' Thunder 2026, and Day 1 started with a full thunder and lightning show before we even made it through the gates. Heavy rain delayed the festival at the Edmonton Exhibition Lands Racetrack for nearly two hours. A few hardcore fans actually stood their ground through it, and then somehow we went from stormy skies to blue skies and live music by 3:45 p.m.
And what a day it turned into!
Bif Naked, grandson, The Glorious Sons and Three Days Grace took over the Main Stage, while Calling All Captains managed to squeeze in a late-night performance on the YEG Rocks Stage after the storm cost them their original set time.
Of course, I took entirely too many photos.
This Rockin' Thunder Day 1 album has a little bit of everything from the bands, crowds, mud pit, food trucks, merch, vendors, festival grounds and even some of the practical stuff you might want to know before attending yourself.
A personal highlight was finally meeting Bif Naked after listening to her since 1998. That one was pretty darn cool!
Rockin' Thunder was loud, muddy, a little stormy and an absolute blast. Not a bad Saturday adventure in Edmonton, Alberta!

Rain earlier in the afternoon created the perfect recipe for a muddy concert pit. By the time Three Days Grace hit the stage, fans were fully embracing the experience, proving a little mud only added to the fun at Rockin' Thunder.
