Before heading home from our Newfoundland adventure, there was one stop we simply couldn't miss—the Titanic Museum and Iceberg Exhibit in St. John's. For our family, this wasn't just another museum. My husband's grandmother came to Canada aboard the RMS Titanic, making this deeply moving experience both a journey through history and a personal connection to one of the world's most famous maritime stories.

Held in it's own room, the "Wreck Room" the details of the events of April 14, 1912, can be reviewed solemnly and respectfully, including a replica of how the ship lies in her final resting place approximately 700km south-southeast of the museum....
Held in it's own room, the "Wreck Room" the details of the events of April 14, 1912, can be reviewed solemnly and respectfully, including a replica of how the ship lies in her final resting place approximately 700km south-southeast of the museum. The RMS Titanic was approximately 400 miles south of Newfoundland when it struck an iceberg. Visitors who would prefer not to experience this history can bypass this room.

The Titanic and Iceberg Exhibit is well laid out in St. John's Newfoundland. Tickets are purchased to the right and one simply follows the arrows on the floor to learn about the history of the titanic through a variety of interpretive displays....
The Titanic and Iceberg Exhibit is well laid out in St. John's Newfoundland. Tickets are purchased to the right and one simply follows the arrows on the floor to learn about the history of the titanic through a variety of interpretive displays. Staff are friendly and very helpful if any assistance is needed. Upon entry, patrons are provided with a Titanic Boarding Pass to support your travel through the museum, at the end of the tour you will learn if your pass holder survived.

The Titanic Museum is down a short flight of stairs, just off the entrance from Water Street (an elevator is also available). Even from outside the museum you can get a taste of the nautical history to come!

I enjoyed my visit to the St. John's, Newfoundland, Titanic Museum and Iceberg Exhibit. Interesting to note - the museum has a VR experience as an additional purchase, in which you are a passenger on the night of the disaster. I did not try this!

Throughout the tour you will find a mix of authentic artifacts and reproductions made by the original manufacturers that furnished the Titanic. This display shows an example of First Class furnishings.

The Titanic Museum in St. John's, Newfoundland, contains numerous authentic artifacts, including these true to period furnishing and decor items. The museum even has props that were used in the James Cameron film about the Titanic.

One of us received the Titanic Boarding Pass for Janny Hansen (we can't remember which of us received which name!). Names of all passengers and crew were listed on this sign, names in bold survived, including Janny Hansen!

One of us received the Titanic Boarding Pass for Ellis Anderson, who tragically did not survive the voyage of the RMS Titanic. Names of all passengers and crew were listed on this sign, names in bold survived the disaster.

Keep an eye out on Water Street for this sidewalk sign - it will lead you to the doors of the Titanic and Iceberg Exhibit at 291 Water Street, St. John's, Newfoundland. Open daily from 10AM to 5PM, this is a museum you will actually want to visit!
