Tucked along Dundas Street in downtown London, Ontario, Canada The Scot's Corner is one of our favourite pubs in the Forest City—a warm, character-filled little escape from the noise and fast pace of the world outside its doors. There’s something wonderfully unpretentious about this traditional Scottish-style pub. The bar is the heart of the room, surrounded by tables, familiar faces, clinking glasses, good food, and the comfortable buzz of people catching up.
We especially love visiting Scot's Corner on Tuesday evenings for the Irish Folk Jam Session, when musicians gather at the back of the restaurant with guitars, fiddles, flutes, and other instruments. On Thursday nights, trivia brings another kind of energy to the room. With weekly events ranging from live music and karaoke to wing nights and wine specials, there always seems to be a reason to come back.
And then there’s the food. My favourite is the toastie with fries, paired with a pint of Guinness, while Sean usually goes for the BLT and a glass of white wine. The portions are generous and comforting—the kind of food that feels perfectly suited to a proper neighbourhood pub, and it comes with a Scottish twist. While we also enjoyed a four-cheese omelette served with fries and toast, which arrived as an impressively substantial plate, other options include British favourites like Bangers & Mash, Haggis, Tatties &Neeps, and Forfar Bridie.
The patio is another reason we keep returning during warm weather. Enclosed by wooden wine barrels and a leafy trellis, it feels surprisingly removed from downtown. Sitting beneath the patio umbrellas with a drink in hand, it’s easy to forget the traffic and bustle just beyond the sanctuary.
Inside, sports are very much part of the atmosphere, with the television providing a gathering point when a big game is on. Whether you’re there for a Guinness, a plate of pub food, live music, trivia, or simply a quiet place to linger, The Scot's Corner has the feeling of a pub that doesn’t need to pretend to be anything other than itself. For us, that’s exactly the charm. It feels like a place to slow down, settle in, and stay awhile.
