Whether we’re looking for a fun night out, meeting friends for dinner and drinks, or simply somewhere to relax in London, Ontario, Canada, Beertown is one of our favourite places to go. With great food, an excellent selection of Canadian craft beer, vegetarian and plant-based options, and the kind of friendly welcome that makes you feel like a regular, it has become one of those local favourites where we know we’re going to have a good experience.
I’m a stout drinker, so the beer selection is a big part of the attraction for me. Give me a good pint of Guinness and I’m happy, but I also love discovering Canadian craft beers. I drank Third Moon Brewing’s Serpent’s Tears Oatmeal Stout at Beertown all summer, and my year-round go-to is Mill Street’s Cobblestone Stout. I love that Beertown gives me a place to enjoy beers I already love while still offering plenty of opportunities to discover something new.
The food is another reason we keep coming back. I’m especially impressed by the vegetarian and plant-based choices. The Plant-Based Beertown Salad is one of the dishes I really enjoy, and my personal favourite is the Plant-Based Beertown Pad Thai. It’s satisfying, full of flavour and the kind of dish that makes it clear that choosing a plant-based meal doesn’t mean settling for an afterthought.
I also appreciate having a dedicated vegan menu and so many choices that make it easy for people with different tastes and dietary preferences to enjoy a meal together. Whether someone is looking for a great burger, a fresh salad, plant-based Pad Thai or something to share with the table, there is plenty to choose from.
And then there is the atmosphere. We enjoy sitting on the patio when the weather cooperates, lingering over a beer and watching the evening unfold. Inside, the bar, big screen and lively dining room give Beertown a completely different energy. It works equally well for a casual dinner, drinks with friends or settling in to watch the game.
But honestly, the thing that keeps Beertown special for us is the people. The staff know us and greet us by name. That small but meaningful personal touch makes the restaurant feel less like somewhere we happen to eat and more like one of our local favourites. We’re recognized, welcomed and made to feel at home.
For us, Beertown is a great example of a Canadian beer house done right: excellent craft brews, genuinely good food, thoughtful vegetarian and plant-based options, a relaxed atmosphere and a genuinely friendly welcome. These photos capture some of what we love about Beertown London, but the friendly greeting—and having a favourite stout waiting for you—is something you really have to experience for yourself.
