Things to Do in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. A guide for popular summer and winter adventures and activities provided by guides, tours and outfitters while visiting and exploring, in and around, the Bruce Peninsula-Georgian Bay Region of Southern Ontario, Canada.

beach 300In-line Skating: The long and paved waterfront path following the shores of Kempenfelt Bay is ideal for inline skating and for sightseeing the community.

Swing a Club:Bring your golf game when visiting Barrie. There are over 10 golf courses in and around the community to swing away at.

Cast a Line :Lake Simcoe and surrounding nearby lakes and rivers provide fishing for yellow perch, whitefish, northern pike, trout and largemouth and smallmouth bass. There are outfitters and fishing guides in the region.

Take the Plunge :There are many sandy beaches along the waterfront for swimming, play and sun tanning. Some are busy and highly visible while others are more private and less populated.

Go for a Stroll : The Waterfront Trail in Barrie is paved, level and easy going.. Along the path are sightseeing benches, picnic areas, beaches, food vendors, art structures, playgrounds and more. Very wheelchair and baby stroller friendly. 

Boat / Sail:Boat launches in town and a City Marina with overnight docking in Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe. Also available are boat rentals and boat cruises with interpretive guides.

Go to the Races :Like fast cars and loud sounds then visit the speedway for some screeching tires or if you are more a horse fan then head south to Georgian Downs for an old fashion horse race.

Take a Day Drive:Pack up for a day trip and visit the history in Midland, the many kilometres of sandy beaches in Wasaga Beach or take to an adventure in Collingwood to name a few.

Saddle Up : Horseback riding guides and tours are available in Barrie which take visitors into the backcountry for adventure and sightseeing cowboy style.on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe.

Paddle Hard :Right from downtown Barrie on the waterfront one can launch a canoe or kayak and paddle the shores of Lake Simcoe. Others prefer to visit one of the other lakes and/or rivers which are easily accessed nearby in one of the parks.

Get Dirty :Because of the network of backcountry gravel roads and trails atving and off roading are popular activities in the region.

Eat Local : Surrounding the community are many farms producing local produce. Grab the family and make a day of it and go on a agri-tourism farm tour.

Visit Attractions : So many to attractions and adventure companies to visit one must try some like zip lining, caving, scuba diving and/or spa & wellness centres.

Ski / Snowboard : During the winter season why not bring along your skies or snowboard and test your shredding skills out on the local ski hill called Snow Valley.

Go Cross Country: In Barrie and surrounding areas there are an endless assortment of xc ski trails. There are resorts which cater to ski vacations, as well as, nordic clubs to assist you in learning the trails and providing lessons and equipment. 

Sledding :There are over 550 kilometres of snowmobiling trails and backcountry roads to explore in the Barrie region connecting communities, parks and frozen waterways.
