Some would say it was a rough welcome into the Northwest Territories.\u00a0 We would say it is just part of the growing process and another adventure in a series of adventures to come.<\/p>\n
The Liard Highway is the BC entrance into the NWT.\u00a0 This is the road we took. The highway is gravel and in a few sections the road is in good shape but, we found out sooner than later, that in most sections the road is in a very rough condition.<\/p>\n
It is not a road to be taken lightly with no spare tire .. hint hint.<\/p>\n
We drove all night and day on the Liard Hwy through sun and rain, with mud and deep ruts while avoiding pot holes the size of garbage can lids.\u00a0 The jeep and camper were dripping in mud. It was a fun and, surprisingly,\u00a0 there were no mishaps.\u00a0 That is what we thought until …<\/p>\n
Until we came to the end of\u00a0 our tour on Liard Hwy at the corner of\u00a0 Liard Hwy and\u00a0 the Mackenzie Hwy. Here we stopped to stretch our legs when Bro noticed I had a flat tire on the camper.\u00a0 Not cool when everything is dripping in mud.\u00a0 After some mumblings I got down and dirty and got the tire replaced.<\/p>\n
But then, double whammy,\u00a0 2 kilometres down the road I ran out of gas too… ha ha ha.\u00a0 You can imagine my enjoyment.\u00a0 So Bro, also teetering on empty,\u00a0 had to go into Fort Simpson (which requires a river ferry crossing) to get gas. I sat for 2 hours.<\/p>\n
