Feeling Bionic with Vionic Shoes

Our Vionic shoes were not any ordinary shoe. No, they were shoes with a built-in orthotic support which provides relief from common foot, ankle and knee pain. This is good news for me as I do have a rolling right ankle.

Walking with Vionic “Walkers”

For a while now, the “eh Team” have been exploring with some new walking friends. Great friends too. They always keep pace but never slow you down or want to lead. They never complain nor do they say much.

Instead… our new walking friends allowed us to enjoy our surroundings – smell, hear and connect with the outside undisturbed – thus providing us with a much appreciated, “Natural Relief” . Our new friends were not people… no, they were “Walker” shoes sent to us by Vionic Canada.

It was on a mixed snowy/sunny day in February, 2014. I was plugging away at the computer creating travel and adventure bliss on our ehCanadaTravel.com tourism and travel website and online blog when I decided I needed to stretch my legs and go for a walk.

We try to walk every where. Get groceries, we walk. Check mail, we walk. Restless, we walk. Sleep we walk. OK… not the last one.

So you can imagine the delight when I stopped by the post office and picked up our “Walker” shoes sent to us for exactly that reason… walking. I guess the Vionic Shoe experts figured out we like walking everywhere and proceeded to gear us up with some exploring shoes. Nice!

After ripping open the box like a small child let loose on his/her birthday, we tired on the shoes. The room was silent. I might recall hearing a, “Hmmmm” and then a, “Ahhhh,” but nothing else. You could see in our faces we were allowing time for our feet to be introduced for the first time to our new shoe friends.

At first… we walked around the house like a baby taking his/her first steps. We leaned forward and we rocked back. We twisted and turned creating squeaky sounds on the wood floor. Then the pace around the house was quick and darted – almost Flash Gordon like. And I think there was a couch jump here and there too.

Once we came down from our new shoe high we concluded our first impressions were good. We started our new walking relationship on the right foot. No pun intended.

With my Vionic Canada friends hugging my feet I proceeded to find out why my feet felt so relaxed so I picked up the information pamphlet which came with the shoes.

I also found out that Vionic Canada shoes were designed by an Australian podiatrist named Phillip Vasyli. He is the head honcho who designed the Tri-Planar Motion Control technology which provides correct biomechanical support and stability. Sounds good but not sure what it all means?

So let us put it in an “eh” way. “Our Vionic shoes are lightweight, comfortable, cool looking and fun to walk in for many kilometres over all terrains in any season.” That is all that really matters to us.

Connect with Vionic online on their website or via their social media pages for more information about their line of shoes.

Thank you Vionic for the “Walker” shoes. They will hike, bike, camp, paddle a lot of Canada in their lifetime.
