12 Days of Xmas – eh Travel Version

It is snowing outside. The first big snowfall for us on the right coast of Canada in our neighbourhood of New Brunswick. I speak for all here at our base camp when I say, “We love the snow!” Bring it on! We love everything about it – the sights, the sounds, the smells, the taste (when it is not yellow) and the feel of snow as we catch it with our tongues. It is a therapeutic experience in so many ways.Snow changes everything around you. In one day the world around you flip-flops. Streets empty with cars. Sidewalks are snowwalks. Touques, scarves and gloves become fashion items.

The snow – it does things like dwarfs noise pollution, paints the ground white and creates a new world of adventures. Everything goes quiet. In fact, as the snow blankets the ground right now and the Bay of Fundy puts on a coat of fog outside my window – all I hear is the laughter of the children next door playing.

It is only fitting, as snow floats down from the sky, that my brain composes a little “ditty” – a traveler’s version of the 12 Days of Xmas. I do hope you enjoy my moment with this winter classic poem.
