Wildlife Radar in Kananaskis

Alert.. Wildlife Sighting! Yesterday, was my last day in the Canyon Campground, so I decided that it was time to explore the Spray Trail leading to the community of Canmore, Alberta, Canada.  Spray Trail is actually a gravel road.  During my travels I planned on  researching  the day parks, trails and, also I needed to seek out a new base camp so to be closer to Canmore.

The gravel road is a back country touring route popular for outdoor adventurers which connects to many day use picnic areas, trailheads and sightseeing opportunities.  Minus the possible cracks in the windshield, the route provides some of the best views of the rugged park, the Goat Mountain Range and Spray Lake.  If gravel roads are not your thing,Highway #1 also leads to Canmore and it is paved and busy.

But the best part of the trip was coming home from Canmore late in the evening after taking pictures of the community. It was near Black Prince Trail where my wildlife radar kicked in. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a coyote.  I slowed to a stop and watched. The coyote watched back. We stared at each other for some time.  Maybe observing each others beauty..he he. Then, to my shock the coyote started to walk towards me. Just so you know most tend to run away very fast at the sight of me.

But not this one. The little coyote began to circle my jeep 3 or 4 times and then he stopped and stared some more. It was so amazing and such a close up encounter. And the little guy was so photogenic. (photo attached).  This was my “Dancing with Wolves”  moment.

Got to go.  Tell you about todays great day tomorrow. `I am feeling I am taking up a seat in this busy restaurant and people are waiting for a seat. Being Canadian.. I am going to cut it short and give up my seat.

Cheers,
