Trail, BC, Canada is situated on the banks of the Columbia River in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The community is a commercial and industrial hub servicing many of the smaller villages in the region including Warfield, Sunningdale, Rivervale, Oasis, Columbia Gardens, Fruitvale, Montrose and Glenmerry.
West Trail is the old heritage district part of town. The older buildings and homes are built on the steep slopes located west of downtown so to overlook the Columbia River. The hillside neighbourhoods and local roads on the west side are connected by a series of unique pedestrian tunnels with stairs connecting to each level on the hillside. In the middle is Downtown Trail with its selection of boutiques, vendors, coffee shops and many local retail outlets.
In the summer months some of the activities enjoyed in the Trail region include hiking, mountain biking, fishing, swimming, dirt biking, atving, boating, picnicking, canoeing, kayaking and river rafting.
