Ski resort destinations range from small hills with one lift to massive ski resorts covering entire mountains serviced by villages with restaurants, pubs, retail stores, equipment rentals, coffee shops, accommodations and mountain lodges. The major ski resorts are located in the Rocky Mountain Region of Alberta in the Banff National Park, Jasper National Park and near Canmore in Kananaskis Country.

Alberta Ski Season

The length of the ski season is different for every mountain. A lot depends on how quick the snow arrives on the mountains and how long it sticks around. In general the ski season usually begins in late November or early December and runs until late April.

Some of the more popular ski resorts in the province include Lake Louise and Sunshine Village (Banff National Park); the Marmot Basin Ski Resort (Jasper National Park);  Mount Norquay Ski Resort (Canmore) and the Nakiska and Castle Mountain Ski Resorts (Calgary).
